Admitting you are an enabler is difficult. There aren’t many people in the world that live with or love an addicted individual that have not done or said something throughout the progression of the addiction that is not considered an enabling comment. Learning to “help” rather than “hurt” your loved one requires a conscious effort.

An intervention can be one of the most difficult things a person has to do in their lifetime. Having a loved one that is suffering from alcohol or drug addiction can destroy an entire family, not to mention the addicted person. Scheduling an intervention, and making it a success, requires careful planning and cooperation of everyone involved.

When a person continues to use drugs, especially cocaine or amphetamines, they use it excessively without any regard to the consequences that come along with their drug use.
